HISTORY: Shaaron Hancock Schuemaker has been called "An amazing talent" by legendary studio bassist, Carole Kay. Her first stage experience was at the age of three, where she sang at a talent show aboard the Queen Elizabeth, en route to England. After winning the talent show, there was no stopping her! Shaaron spent the rest of her early childhood taking music lessons, learning accordion, piano flute, violin, drums and guitar. Shaaron has led several all girl bands on worldwide tours, concerts, clubs, casinos and cruise ships. Shaaron has also graced the concert stage with many top opening acts such as Jimmy Buffet, Willy Nelson, ZZ Top, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Chi Coltrane, Nazz, Raspberries, Guess Who, Youngbloods and Three Dog Night. Her rich and raspy blues voice gave her the opportunity to play Janis Joplin in a Rock and Roll Heaven production. Today, Shaaron continues to bring down the house with her exceptional ability to capture the pure essence of Janis Joplin! Her early credits include; "The Spider's Web", "Dora Hall Show", "Wild Otis", "Fred Thompson and the Guadalajara National Philharmonic", "Lady Luck", and "Miss D' Meanor". From 1992 to 1999, Shaaron worked and recorded with San Diego Padre Base Ball player, Tim Flannery. During this time Shaaron, once again, shared the stage bill with many top name acts and led a Jimmy Buffett Tribute with San Diego’s renowned band "Koko Loco". Recently Shaaron focuses on studio work as both a bassist and vocalist. She has recorded several original projects including work featured in a movie, and cuts that have received airplay. In 1998, Shaaron was dubbed 'The most recorded bassist in town!". Shaaron was also the founder of the all female rock show band, "Haute Flash". Currently, Shaaron’s dedication and desire for teens and disadvantaged children has earned her a B.A. in Social Work! She lives with her husband, four adopted daughters and foster children in Bonita, California.
*****Vocalist/Keyboardist Laurie K. Lewis, originally from Saginaw, Michigan, frequently toured with Bob Seger, Alice Cooper and Ted Neugent in the early 1970's with the young psychedelic rock band “Pitche Blende”. Laurie’s versatile jazz, blues, folk and rock vocal style brought her to Chicago in 1976 which gave opportunity to perform with Big Band leader Les Elgart and Jim Beebe’s Chicago Jazz , The Spinners and rock legend, Harvey Mandel. In 1983 Laurie was the featured lead vocalist and keyboardist for the Chicago based group “The Buckinghams”, who toured for nine months on 'The 1985 Happy Together Tour' with The Turtles, Gary Lewis, and The Grassroots. Moving to San Diego, CA. in 1986 she joined The Monroes (“What Do All the People Know). She also co-arranged vocals while working extensively in the recording studio with Wayne Nelson, lead vocalist/bassist of “The Little River Band”. Laurie became a lead vocalist with The Mamas and the Papas in 1986 and toured with them both nationally and internationally as a replacement for her friend actress/singer, McKenzie Philips. The folk-rock vocals of John Phillips, Denny Doherty, Spanky McFarlane and Laurie K. Lewis resounded around the world on tour throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, the Pacific Rim and extensively all over the United States and Canada. Soon after, Spanky McFarlane reformed “Spanky and Our Gang” which included Laurie as part of the gang along with some of the original members from the ‘60’s. She also recorded an album in 1997 with Gary Puckett entitled "Is This Love.” Presently, Laurie enjoys performing with "The Queen Diva Band" and continues to play on various musical projects. She also sings and plays keyboards and guitar in “Harmony Road” with her husband Chuck Lewis and long time friend, Gene Warren.
*****Lead guitarist/vocalist Ronnie Ryckman started out like many aspired young musicians; a lot of passion and no money! During the mid-70s, Ronnie noticed that there were few women guitar players so she began to hone her skills with inspiration from Jeff Beck, Brian May, Carlos Santana to name a few. Raised in Oregon Ronnie left home at the age of 16 to play with Shady Lady, an all girl band in Seattle Later, Ronnie hit the road in Nevada playing casinos and night clubs until she finally landed in Los Angeles and joined Kim Fowley’s creation, “Venus and the Razorblades” (Kim Fowley was the creator of “Joan Jett and the Runaways”) where they played on the legendary Sunset Strip at “The Whiskey A-Go-Go”, “Gazzaris” and the “Starwood”. Ronnie wrote the hit song “I Wanna Be Where the Boys Are”, for Joan Jett and the Runaways. In 1978 Ronnie joined the newer version of “Steppenwolf” and then “Spirit” and shared the stage with Van Halen, Devo, The Motels, and Loverboy. She also played guitar for “The Touch” which was a compilation band from the former rhythm section for “Heart”. Ronnie fell in love with Seattle and spent the next few years with her own band “The Ronnie Lee Group” where she played with many fabulous musicians and formed some lasting friendships! Ronnie’s well seasoned and agile fingers and melodic lead solos have won the attention of many musicians. Her rock/blues vocals bring an exciting dimension to the group. Ronnie moved to San Diego in 1984 and since then has been involved in many musical projects and working bands. Presently, Ronnies song, "I Wanna Be Where the Boys Are" was featured in the 2010 movie "The Runaways". Ronnie also enjoys being a mother of her three children and is dubbed “Ronjovi” by her musician friends as she is definitely a “Rocker Mom”!

The Queen Divas of the Universe concept started when Laurie K. Lewis and Ronnie Lee Ryckman expressed the desire to start a band. They wanted to be current and relevant in these times despite the competition from their younger peers.
The duo joined an all girl band where they found vocalist and bassist Shaaron Hancock-Schuemaker. When these three women got together, everything fell into place and “Queen Divas of the Universe” was formed.
Each woman in this group has played extensively around the world with great musicians and notable artists. They are all excellent at their craft, vocally powerful and absolutely worthy of their name. The band is complete with Mike Harris on drums and Chuck Lewis on rhythm and lead guitars.
